This information is for those of you out there who have oil painting by the artist R.E. Boren. Since my last post about a year ago, I have been contacted by 5 or 6 other people who owned paintings by him also. I even received a email from South Africa. I have found, and emailed the artist. He seems very modest, and told me his sister is the "real artist" in the family. Mr Boren seems to be very popular, a painting of his was recently bought on www.Ebay.com. I just received another email asking if I ever found Mr. Boren. I emailed Mr. Boren today, and asked him if I can post his email address on this websitite, so people with his paintings may contact him, if they wish. Ada Boren Ada Filena "Dodie" Boren, 92, daughter of the Rev. William Frederick and Ora Long Jones, was born Oct. 24, 1910, at Manes. She died Dec. 30, 2002, at Houston House. Her family moved to Licking when she was very young. She attended grade and high school there. She married Ray Boren April 24, 1928, at Houston. They lived a few years in Chicago before moving back to Licking.

Nice website. I see a few of my cousins have found it as well. I am the daughter of Glenn and Yvonne Boren of Fallbrook, CA. My dad's parents were Jesse and Ida Boren who moved from San Bernardino, CA to Fallbrook (actually Rainbow Valley)in 1917. I believe that this branch of the family came to CA in 1848 with the Mormons. Where they were before that I am unsure. I am glad to know that there are a lot more Borens out there than I thought. There are quite a few of us in Southern CA.

Does anyone know of any Boren oil painting artists? I just bought a beautiful oil painting, used, at a Goodwill store. It is a beautiful scene of a cabin by a high altitude lake, in the mountains. I love it!!! It is signed R. Boren. It is approximately 24" by 30 inches. It appears to be several years old, with a frame made in Mexico. There was a little bit of dust on the back side. As far as I can tell, my ancesters came from Ireland from the O'Boran clan which originated in the 1000's. I am somehow related to Bazel Boren that fought in the Battle of Kings Hill during the Revolutionary War. I am related to Daniel Boone through marriage, and most of my immediate relatives now live in Utah. William Coleman Boren first came to Utah with the Mormon Pioneers. Some of my ancesters settled Heber and Wallsburg Utah. I am still working on all the details in between these events. Great site...thanks!!!

According to a 499 page book titled 'Boren, Past & Present', that was written by BOREN relative Helen MEEKS, William BORING, was one of three BORING/BORAN brothers who came to America from Ireland in 1646 to escape Oliver CROMWELL's troops. William, Charles, Joseph, Francis, & John Sr., were sons of James BORING of Virginia. William BORING settled in Maryland and in 1666 was granted 1,000 acres in Stafford Co., VA where he transported 20 people there to start a colony. Source: Cavaliers & Pioneers Patent Book #5; p. 563. I am descended from William BORING of Ireland through his son, James BORING of VA. James' son, John BOREN Sr. b. abt. 1726 Salisbury, Rowan Co., NC, d. abt. 1821 Drake's Creek, Sumner Co., TN, was my 5g grandfather. My BOREN ancestors settled in Collin Co. & Ellis Co., TX. My 4G grandmother, Nancy BOREN b. 1770 VA, d. 1 Feb 1851 Ellis Co., TX, bd. Boren Cemetery, Reagor Springs, Ellis Co., TX, was married to James BOREN Sr. b. abt. 1768 Salisbury, Rowan Co., NC, d. 20 Oct 1826 Hempstead Co., AR, bd. Hempstead Co., AR. After James Sr. died in 1826, Nancy came to Texas from Arkansas with seven of her children (Michael, Joseph, Elijah, Matthew, Mary Polly, Delilah Hudson, and Sarah) and their families in 1828 in wagons pulled by oxen. Wm. M. followed them in 1833. James Jr. stayed in Arkansas all of his life. Nancy received a Mexican land grant in the Milam and Burleson counties area just north of the San Andrew River. In later years she moved to Ellis County to be near her sons Joseph and Michael. On the 1850 Ellis Co. census, Nancy is listed as 96 years old and living with her son Joseph. She died without a will in Ellis Co. on February 1, 1851. Nancy Boren also applied for Admission to Stephen F. Austin and Samuel M. Williams' colony in 1834. This petition for admission (Box 25, Folder 23) indicates that she was a widow and 64 years of age. How nice it is to know there is actually a "www.boren.org" out there! Like many, I came across it while browsing, looking for "Boren" background information, although I can't claim to be a genealogist. Although the family name isn't in the site's name, Borens of the world might be interested in a site created by my nephew, David Boren, called www.scenicutah.com. It uses mostly my photographs of the state, but David is the designer and webmaster. Like Texas, Oklahoma and Tennesee, Utah is certainly home territory for American Borens. Hello there Borens! It is so strange to see people with my last name. It is just uncommon enough that, growing up, I always felt that "Boren" belonged only to my family, a feeling I'm sure many Borens out there share. My father is James Robert Boren of Texas, but originally from Norman, Oklahoma. His faoma. His father, my grandfather, was also named James Robert Boren, AKA J.R. I know very little about this part of my family. I heard once that the name Boren was Scottish, but do not know if this is true. If there is indeed a Borensberg in Sweden, is it Swedish?? I am 1/8 Swedish, but from my mother's side. I was not aware of any Swedish blood coming from the Boren ancestry. I'd love to learn more about my name.

My last name is Boren, as you can see. I was born in Pennsylvania, my father's name was David Louis Boren and my uncle was Charles Boren. I ran into your website while I was doing a search on my maiden name. I was wondering if you know what country the Boren's came from. Some people have told me the Borme people have told me the Boren name is English. Do you know what country our ancestors came from? It is interesting to see one's own name on a website like this one. I am just beginning to investigate my family tree. What I believe I know of my geneology is that our family Boren has been in this country since perhaps the 1690's or earlier. Apparently originally settling somewhere in Virginia and later migrating to Kentucy, Illinois, and Tennesse then on to Texas. Some information on the Texas branch of the family can be found by searching for the Boren & Reagon Cemetery.

Hi, you two--oops, I mean three! How's it going? The weather here is beautiful! Bright and sunny and clear blue skies. It snowed one day--day inches up here--this last week. Have you found a new house yet? Rex has his feelers out but is not too anxious to secure a job yet because he's still remodeling part of his house and is not ready to show it yet. It will sell fast when he does put it on the market so he's waiting a while. In the meantime he's not one of the strikers at Boeing. He croses the line every morning and they're all friendly. The're coming here in their new mini-van (the first car trip with the kids) conference week. We're so exicted to see the little girls. We saw them at Thanksgiving at her folks' in New Mexico. Thanks for the update and cute pictures. I copied your family picture and made it bigger and put it in a frame and on the shelf with the other "important" people in our lives. Take care.
