The GM light armor is a modification of the basic GM according to the desires of ace Federation pilots. The armor has been stripped down, reducing weight and improving agility. Also the cockpit has had some additional armor plating to improve pilot survival.

The GM light armor is outfitted with a beam pistol, an improvement over the beam spray gun standard on GMs. Also, the beam saber is a lengthened type with extended range. The GM light armors were made in small numbers for the few ace pilots able to take advantage of the agile but vulnerable new mobile suit.
